As a Fresh Start intern at R&D Department of Arçelik, our main goal was to develop appropriate formulations for polymer technology. I was given a project about flammability of polypropylene after injecting suitable bioadditives and Leila POUDEH was my project advisor. New formulas should meet the UL-94 V0 tests so we tried various formulations. Chitosan and lignin were main focus as inflammable bio-additives but their effect on mechanical properties should be observed carefully. Laboratory environment, test instructions, sectoral trainings were given and I gave the presentation of project to the polymer technology team in the end of the internship.

During my time in Filiz KARADAG’s Process Team, I visited and learnt necessary information such as crucial points and general concept about oil and gas production, ways to avoid reducing product quality in case of accident/maintenance, read operating manual and observed all in the field. I learned the distributed control systems (DCS), working principles and scheme of Crude Oil Distillation, Vacuum Distillation, Continuous Catalytic Reforming and Delayed Coker Units with the help of engineers and operators and worked with them. I made weekly report and presentation of each unit, answered the question of the engineers.

To take care of the citizens in the ASAN state institution and to ensure that they are directed to the relevant ministry. Here, work was done in groups of 10-12 people. By acting as a group manager in the last month, to ensure the distribution of tasks, to explain the operation to the newcomers, to report to the superior manager.
