Azhar is currently serving as Sr. Director of Corporate Controllership at WestRock Company. In his current role, Azhar is the US GAAP Technical Accounting and Reporting Lead. Azhar is also responsible for overseeing the Company's Financial Systems (FINTECH) and SOX 404 compliance teams. Additionally, Azhar actively collaborates with our Sustainability team for emerging mandatory ESG reporting requirements.Prior to joining WestRock, Azhar worked at EY for almost 13 years and provided auditing, accounting and SEC reporting services to large SEC-registered public companies in the retail, logistics and manufacturing industries. Some of his notable audit clients included Walmart Inc., J.B Hunt Transport Services, Inc., and Tyson Foods. Azhar also worked at EY's National Office located in Washington D.C. and specialized in SEC reporting matters for almost three years. As part of this assignment, Azhar assisted several clients with reporting issues related to registration statement filings, IPOs and periodic reporting. Azhar also participated in formulating and drafting the firm's comment letters on certain SEC's proposals, including the proposed rule on guaranteed and collateralized securities, and request for comment on quarterly reporting. Azhar also led efforts on issuing several firm's external publications on matters involving SEC reporting. He is a Certified Public Accountant registered in Arkansas, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is a 2006 graduate of the University of Central Arkansas, Conway, Arkansas, with a B.B.A. degree in both accounting and finance.
