I managed the social media presence for Huna Sotak, the Arabic desk of Radio Netherlands Worldwide. I created original content for Twitter (@HunaSotak), Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram, YouTube, WhatsApp, Periscope, LinkedIn and Pinterest, and tailored the editorial content for these platforms. I also managed a weekly live YouTube show, contributed a weekly radio segment on social media, and contributed articles covering technology, social media trends, and the Middle East and the U.S. affairs.

I covered the Middle East, entrepreneurship, social media, trends and new gadgets in Arabic and English.I contributed to several websites, including ArabNet and Radio Netherlands Worldwide.I covered several tech events and conferences, including Vine Journalism Awards 2013 in NYC, ArabNet Digital Summit 2013, Flat6Labs Demo Day in Fall 2012, Flat6Labs Incubation Cycle 3 in Summer 2012, Cinemobile Film Festival 2012, among many other tech events and gatherings.

I translated and localized websites, documents, films and series from English to Arabic and vice versa. I also fixed and interpreted for media outlets, independent researchers and journalists from English to Arabic and vice versa.I was consulted on Egypt and the Middle East affairs, social media, social entrepreneurship, human rights, advocacy, and minorities.I localized entire websites from English to Arabic, including Ahwaa.org, Migrant-Right.org and MideasTunes.comI interpreted, fixed and assisted in reporting the Egyptian Presidential Elections 2012 for the Swedish News Agency, Tidningarnas Telegrambyrå (TT).I instructed an art class at the American University in Cairo about Social Media in 2012.I worked as an interpreter and additional reporter to the MIT Tech Review while covering the use of social media in Egypt before and during Jan 25, 2011 Revolution. My client named my services "revojournalism".I worked as an interpreter for Canadian researchers working on Project Tahrir that documented the Egyptian revolution in 2011.I worked as an interpreter for field researches on the Egyptian revolution with Movements.org in 2011, as well as researchers from the University of Edinburgh in 2012.I worked as a co-producer, fixer and interpreter for the Australian documentary film "Pharaoh Vs the Egyptians" documenting the Egyptian revolution in 2011.I instructed at Hemaya (Protection) Movement about Social Media and Liberalism in 2011, and also instructed about liberalism at emerging political parties after the Egyptian Revolution, like the Free Egyptians Party in 2011.I helped in organizing various events and seminars, and conducting several workshops on good governance, liberalism, and civic education and participation.

I managed ArabNet Arabic for nearly 7 months. I was responsible for the Arabic version by generating original content, covering local events, and translating from English. I was partly responsible for the English version as well.I covered many events in Cairo, Egypt, including startups acceleration rounds, tech events and festivals, and launching of new products.I helped in envisioning and copywriting ArabNet's material for ArabNet Digital Summit.ArabNet is the hub for digital professionals and entrepreneurs to connect and learn. I co-founded, envisioned, developed and translated Ahwaa.org.I managed Ahwaa.org Arabic from April 2011 until January 2013.Ahwaa.org is a trilingual open space for LGBTQI+ community of the MENA region and beyond that leverages game mechanics to facilitate authentic and high-quality interactions about sexuality.Ahwaa helps users interact anonymously, upon their preference, to share topics, advices and experiences.Launched under the umbrella of Majal.org (formerly knows as Mideast Youth).http://ahwaa.org/

I envisioned Mideast Youth websites, comics, videos and projects for more than 3 years.I've edited the Arabic website and contributed to the English website.I managed FreeKareem.org as a publishing editor.I co-founded Ahwaa.org and helped founding several other projects, including Mideastunes.com, CrowdVoice.org, March18.org, AssyrianRights.org, and Making of a Century application.During my time at Mideast Youth, the network received ThinkSocial Award for being a “Powerful model for how social media can be used to address global problems” in 2009; the Deutsche Welle's BOBs (Best of Blogs) Jury Award “Special Topic in Human Rights” for Migrant-Rights.org in 2011; and 2011 Monaco Media Prize.Mideast Youth (MEY) is grassroots indigenous digital network that leverages the power of new media to facilitate the struggle against oppression in the Middle East and North Africa, through implementing multimedia and using variable forms of digital expression, including text, podcasts, pictures, comics, videos and infographics.MEY creates platforms to amplify voices of change.
