The project was conducted in the Sisecam Düzcam Polatlı Plant and concentrated on warehouse operations including the storage area determination of glass packages and preparation of orders. The main purpose of the work done is to develop solution approaches to minimize the ratio of undesired forklift movements to total shipment movements and the average age of products in the warehouse. In this direction, various alternative algorithms are generated to determine the storage area. These algorithms, different warehouse layout designs and policies are tested by using simulation models which were constructed in ARENA. Then, the performance measures, flow charts of algorithms and other suggestions are proposed to the company.

TOFAS is an automobile manufacturer in Bursa, and Azize had a chance to take responsibility in real life projects during her spent at the company. She worked under Supply Chain Directorate with a team responsible for dispatching operations of finished vehicles.Besides the domestic market, TOFAŞ also try to meet a fluctuating demand from foreign markets. For that purpose, a production plan integrated shipment plan was needed. To do this, a mathematical model is constructed considering production plan and shipment constraints. This model was constructed by Azize and solved via GAMS and it was integrated with Excel in order to make it easy to share the plan with stakeholders. Moreover, macros were constructed to facilitate the preparation of daily shipment reports, and structuring a database via Access was studied.
