WT is a socially motivated enterprise that strives to make streets safer for women, children and other members of the community who face the problems of street vulnerability. At WA our mission is to build physical communities that are not bound by geographical locations and to make the communities feel responsible for each other’s safety.WA recently won a £5000/- grant from the London Borough of Newham to develop and pilot the application.User Research activity: - I surveyed a diverse range of women globally (over 150 participants) to understand the problem of street safety - Obtained ethical research approval for all studies involving users - Conducted user interviews and targeted ethnography with various stakeholders, including community members, office holders and parents of young adults. - Developed personas, wireframes, and storyboards to understand user requirements. - Generated tangible, specific design requirements from the quantitative and qualitative analysis of data captured from user studies as well as the initial prototyping. - Developed mockups for user testing and feedback. - Presented pitches to several funding bodies and investors

Hci Researcher

I adopted a user-centred approach to design and develop a usable and useful automatically generated route planning platform for blind people.- Defined and refined the problem over several iterations based on user feedback at various stages of the project. This was done through surveys, semi-structured interviews, targeted ethnography, user-feedback questionnaires and usability testing resulting in a fully user-led design and development cycle.- Obtained ethical research approval for all studies involving users- Developed a local digital prototype using Python for usability testing- Ran several iterations of in-house testing of different parts of the user interface of the prototype, including quick-and-dirty evaluations, testing with expert colleagues and testing with naive participants.- Performed usability testing using Lego as a tangible counterpart to the digital prototype. This allowed the users to correlate the audio routes in the digital prototype to physical routes through Lego pieces.- Conducted the experiments with sighted participants in order to test how effective the audio-based routes were in providing route information. This gave me broader, quantitative data that I analysed using statistical techniques.- Conducted experiments with blind participants at various iterations of design and prototyping to get rich, qualitative data to understand the target audience's usability of the prototype as well as further user requirements.- All qualitative data was analysed using Thematic analysis and converted into crisp user requirements that fed into each next iteration.- Developed a web-based digital prototype using HTML, JavaScript, CSS and PHP for usefulness testing with the target users from USA, Scotland, and various places in England giving me a broader usefulness metric.- Published and presented the results in major HCI journals and several scientific forums, including seminars and top-tier auditory display and HCI conferences.
