Received a PhD in computer science with a strong emphasis on operating system, SoC, and microprocessor design. My research area was the intersection of computer architecture and security, exploring the security and performance implications of hardware-accelerating operating system functionality.

Began teaching work while an undergraduate, then continued as a grad student. I created a new class in secure software principles with other undergraduate TAs, designed lab exercises, gave lectures, supervised labs, and graded homework.During the spring 2014 semester my advisor and I taught a groundbreaking senior/graduate level class on hardware security and reverse engineering - one of a small handful of classes worldwide on the subject.Topics included interpretation of VLSI layout, fab processes, sample preparation and staining, imaging techniques, invasive and non-invasive attacks, and the strong and weak points of common anti-tamper techniques. Researching GPU acceleration technologies for medical image processing.

Assisted in design of a novel MEMS device. Tested prototype dies and performed failure analysis via optical and electron microscopy. Named as co-inventor on 12 pending patents.Worked on several projects in machine vision, including content-based image retrieval and real-time object tracking. Designed portions of a large website back-end application including fault tolerance and scalability to a server cluster.Designed schematics and printed circuit board layouts for custom instrumentation. Assembled prototypes and wrote firmware. Deployed instrumentation in laboratory environment and modified as necessary when conducting experiments.Designed and administered a seven-teraflop GPU cluster. Assisted in simulation of customer product designs to assess feasibility.
