In this position I work with new and previous MBA clients, helping them understand their options, pricing, logistics, and pre-trip info sessions. My challenging and rather disappointing study abroad experience I lived in Spain at 16 due to an unprofessional local coordinator is what drives me to pursue this job passionately. I believe this job now gives me a chance to reflect on my experience and lend a good support system to international teens, and taught me what not to do. This has been an incredible experience, and I am very excited to welcome five new international teens to come live in Colorado this coming August.

Working with the summer high school study abroad programs from the US. Home stay orientations, trip excursions, overall student supervision and point of contact. Throughout this summer, we have had multiple American-based programs come to Nanjing, China, to study language and culture. My role as assistant program director has been to help students arriving in Nanjing assimilate to Chinese culture and homestay-life. As a first point of contact for many students, I am also in charge of helping students transition to life in China, primarily by helping set them up with phone service, food adjustment, and language assistance.

Helped found CU Boulder's chapter of the national organization Project Pengyou. Our goal is to fortify US-China relations through grassroots level education, especially by uniting our local Chinese and American communities. The CU Boulder chapter has been working with other groups on campus to broaden our reach and help bring anyone and everyone looking to understand more about China. We hope to encourage more students to study, travel, and work abroad in China to increase their cultural awareness and come back with a drive to foster a better mutual understanding between these two counties.In this position, I truly learned how to organize a large group of people, engage and motivate a board of directors, and be a leader in our community. Continuously coming up with weekly ideas to encourage people to return was a challenge, but with a great group of board members we were always able to find an activity that was innovative and exciting. Our group grew to over 45+ members by the end of the first year.

Helping to raise awareness in our local community on the United Nation's goals in promoting world peace and unity. Annual events bring information to people on the progress and intentions of the UN, and weekly discussions speak on current events throughout the world. During my time here as an intern and then a board member, I quickly learned how to work with a variety of people, edit webpages and maintain our social media accounts. I also played a large role in organizing the booth we held at the annual Boulder Creek Fest--organizing volunteers, timeslots, rotations, set-up and break-down, as well as the various ideas of how to raise awareness and get people interested in our cause of providing clean water to those in need.

I worked as a translator and editor for a magazine in Nanjing, often translating articles from Chinese to English (and occasionally from Spanish), as well as edited articles that had been written by non-native English speakers, correcting grammar, spelling, and word choice.I soon learned how to be very detail-oriented, notice minor mistakes, and improved my editing skills. On top of that, I had to collaborate with solely Chinese co-workers, and had to rely on my Chinese language skills to communicate and resolve article issues and mistranslations.

Worked for two summers at an amazing camp. Counselor for the Rockin' Robins (girls, 4-6) and the Little Ladybugs (girls, 6-8). In collaboration with one to two other counselors, we led activities, organized games, meet with parents, and continuously came up with creative ideas. This job was my first true experience with teamwork, and how to effective utilize each person's skills to create the best and safest environment for children. Leadership was another skill I gained here, as counselors took charge of activities, planning, and organizing throughout the duration of camp. This was a wonderful experience, and most of all, it taught me how to be patient and creative.
