Junior Security Analyst (Intern)
Toronto, Canada Area
With operations in over 55 countries worldwide, Scotiabank is Canada's most international bank. As a result, Scotiabank takes a significant interest in international security. In an effort to ensure the physical security of its assets, operations and employees abroad, Scotiabank has a Global Protective Services (GPS) team devoted to providing physical security standards for the bank's international presence. I had the privilege to work as part of the GPS team for a period of 8 months as I completed the internship component of my graduate studies program. Within GPS, I worked as a part of a small but dynamic Analysis Team and was directly responsible for:- Monitoring and recording daily physical security incidents such as terrorist attacks, civil & political unrest, criminal activity, and severe natural disasters in all countries relevant to Scotiabank's international presence (with particular focus on Latin American, Caribbean, and Asian operations in countries such as Mexico, Colombia, Jamaica, and Thailand) - Producing weekly and monthly Physical Security reports, which detailed, analyzed, and predicted global security threats in relation to Scotiabank’s operations, assets and employees- Assisting in vetting and coordination of travel arrangements and the production of security briefing presentations for Scotiabank employees traveling abroad in order to mitigate physical security risks
