Brendan is currently an Insurance Officer at VMIA under the Construction team. His primary role is underwriting and providing risk advice on major construction projects throughout Victoria. He specialises in Construction Risks (Material Damage and Liability) and Professional Indemnity Insurance for State principal-procured construction projects. He also reviews contractor-procured construction-related policies including Marine Transit, Delay in Start-up, Construction Plant & Equipment and Contractor's Pollution Liability, amongst other areas of insurance. Clients he works with include Suburban Rail Loop Authority, Metro Tunnel Project, Major Road Projects Victoria, Rail Projects Victoria, Department of Education, Department of Health, and Victoria Police. As part of his role, he led the Construction annual renewal project for 2023-2024 policy period, underwriting several million dollars' worth of premium across VMIA's portfolio. During 2024, he is again leading the construction renewal project for 2024-2025 policy period. Furthermore, he has trained to become a Fire Warden for the tenancy in the building.Brendan is also a qualified Australian lawyer admitted to practice in Victoria with experience in criminal law and migration law, having graduated Monash University with degrees in Bachelor of Laws and completed Practical Legal Training at the College of Law.Outside of work, Brendan is a keen coin collector. He co-runs one of Australia's largest Facebook coin trading and discussion groups with over 39,000 group members. He is the incumbent treasurer of The Numismatic Association of Victoria, Victoria's oldest association dedicated to the study of coins and banknotes. As part of his role previously as Vice President, he published an article on the Victorian Numismatic Newsletter titled 'Highlights of 2012 50 Cent Coins'. He is known in the industry for his knowledge particularly on Australian 50 cent coins and in error coins. He is regularly consulted by fellow collectors for his knowledge in these areas, having worked closely with many dealers, auction houses and industry experts since 2018.
