I provide adult education experiences in communication, public relations, and related strategies, such as meeting management. I also consult as a freelance editor for textbooks and other technical communication. As an online educator, I seek unique and tested strategies for teaching online, with the goal of enhancing the learning experience while increasing student interaction efficiency. For the past 18 months, I've been the director of UW-Platteville's Teaching & Learning Center. We offer training on andragogy (teaching strategies for adults) in a variety of formats. Our sessions are face-to-face, online (via Desire2Learn), and via our Web site. We research teaching practices, provide sessions that highlight what our faculty members are doing in the classroom, and offer one-on-one consultations upon request. My background in training and development has been very useful. What I wasn't expecting through this new opportunity was how much my own teaching would be revitalized and improved.
