Commercial biomass cook-stoves are replacing LPG and diesel cook stoves in commercial / community establishments such as restaurants, hotels, dhabas, and hostels.I have been very much involved in deploying coal gasifiers to meet thermal energy demands in the iron & steel industry. The various segments of the industry include pellet plants, rolling mills, galvanizing plants, and wire annealing units.Recently commercialized COSMO 4.6 DSG (4.6 m double stage gasifier), which is the largest atmospheric pressure updraft gasifier available in India, is fast becoming the preferred work-horse for large scale gasification facilities (e.g. for pellet plants).Built expertise in gasification of high ash (up to 47%) Indian coal and generating good quality gas that can meet most of the industrial heating applications. Current R&D activities include:- fluidized bed gasification of high ash Indian coal- Pyrolysis of coal for simultaneous production of char (carbon source for metallurgical reduction) and high value gas- gasification and pyrolysis of biomass for simultaneous production of green carbon and green hydrogen
