I am professional and reliable, with extensive knowledge in telecommunications and IT networking. I have over ten years’ experience with the Royal Engineers, British Army specialising in the planning and co-ordination of communications networks, policies and procedures. More recently, I am now responsible for the management and installation of network and wireless communication equipment for a multitude of clients across the UK. I am driven, a fast learner and thrive in high pressure situations to always achieve the desired outcome at a high standard. In my free time, I have been developing my own professional development in studying for certifications relating to the IT networking industry.In my current role as a Network Engineer at an IT managed service and network solutions company, I have effectively worked with a range of stakeholders to complete several IT projects. At Astro Communications, I am responsible for interpreting and implementing Service Level Agreements for clients, managing projects and building documentation such as project briefs, scope of works, work schedules and training plans. I am also responsible for the install, management and configuration of network equipment ensuring the IT solution is suitable for the client’s needs and requirements. I have recently been co-ordinating a network and wireless upgrade project for a large well known restaurant franchise which has over 80 stores in the UK. Within this role, I have become proficient with network equipment such as Cisco, Cisco Meraki, Fortinet, Ubiquiti, HPE Aruba and more.As a Digital Communications Technician Sergeant in the Royal Engineers, I was responsible for planning, developing, and implementing communications networks in the UK and Overseas. One example included successfully facilitating long range communications in remote sections of the Belizean jungle. This also involved overseeing the upkeep and asset management of specialist equipment to maintain 24/7 communications being available in event of emergencies. I was responsible for assessing risks of all tasks, subsequently managing any risks and planning contingencies, such as having back-up communications in the event of any failures. Duties also included daily managing a diverse team of 15, being responsible for the team’s tasks, development, performance management, discipline and welfare. I designed and developed training programs to further the continual professional development of personnel.
