Babak is a Listed Derivatives specialist with 30 years of experience in sales, trading and management. Within the finance industry he has built and grown businesses, developing strategic partner and client relationships for a number of investment banks. His expertise ranges from listed derivatives across assets, to global market analysis on a macro level, to bond options. He has built and managed numerous teams, approaching them with the same philosophy he utilizes for brand partnerships and clients—nurturing relationships based on trust and authenticity.Babak was most recently the Managing Director, and Head of Listed Derivatives Sales for EMEA at HSBC, leading a team that serviced HSBC’s major institutional clients, both in execution and clearing. He has also held various trading and sales roles at prominent investment banks, including Citigroup, Jefferies, CSFB, SG Warburgs, Tokyo Mitsubishi International and Lehman brothers, where he started his sales career, moving onto Bond Option trading within the bank. In consulting roles, he was a partner in GID, responsible for business development in Russia in the automotive sector, and in EuroAsia, an Investment boutique focusing on Iran, in partnership with Deutsche bank and Iran’s first private bank.A career highlight was building Lehman’s first institutional Listed Derivatives team in London, with an instrumental role in growing their Listed Options business in France. He achieved similar growth later at Citigroup as head of EMEA Sales, strengthening their client base and increasing their revenues consistently and significantly over a nine-year period.Babak holds a Master’s degree (MSc) in Alternative Energy, and a Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Civil Engineering. He has a strong international background, is trilingual, and is passionate about human psychology and behavioral finance. Growing up as an all-round athlete, he captained his university at tennis, and has also coached at club level.
