Plant Manager – Watervliet, New York (2008–09)Responsibility for manufacturing technical abrasive products for industrial applications. Work force of 158 employees in a unionized environment. Plant Manager - Plattsville, Ontario (2005–08)Manufacturing of abrasive sheets for automotive aftermarket and consumer industry. Operation that runs 24 / 7 a week.

Responsibilities included day to day maintenance activities for 32 skilled trades and 4 Engineers. Developed site capital plans including design, justification and implementation.

With 3 supervisors, department of 150 employees, managed staffing and scheduling needs, handled employee issues related to attendance, job performance and discipline.

Managed manual and semi automated equipment for production of sheet, paper and fibre discs with 5 supervisors and 300 unionized employees. Products manufactured for retail and industrial customers.

Effectively worked with Customer Service, Field Sales and Manufacturing to resolve quality issues. Evaluated, determined root cause, implemented necessary corrective actions to address customer concerns and eliminate future complaints.

Managed Receiving, Shipping, Material Handling activities including movement of raw materials, packaging, finished goods and rolls of abrasive paper.

Promoted to manage staffing and scheduling needs, handled employee issues related to attendance, job performance and discipline.

Managed the scheduling and release of manufacturing orders to conversion including allocating materials.

Promoted to supervising day to day operations of converting sandpaper into sheets, discs, rolls and belts.

Maintained correct product routings, labor standards and product bills of material. Designed facilities, layout of buildings, equipment, and product storage to maintain effective flow of material through manufacturing.
