It is true, my undergraduate degree is in music education from the University of Kansas, Lawrence. Completing my studies in music at KU was one of the ten best experiences in my life! In the decade after graduation I was privileged to teach string instrumental music in public and private school settings. After moving on from public school teaching, I continued to teach violin and viola privately, and perform as a professional orchestral musician.Since that time, my career path has segued more than once as I have navigated life changes, ripples in the economy and family relocations for work. Adapting to these changes meant, for me, finding other skills to groom. After fundamental coursework in information systems and much self-study in writing for the Web, I carved out a role in financial services documenting proprietary Web-based payment processing applications. Many valuable lessons came from that experience and I consider that period of exploration one of the top career growth opportunities in my life.My family's relocation just ahead of the subprime mortgage crisis of 2007-2008, forced me to look again at my tool bag, as the job market recoiled. I matched my research and writing skills to the legal services industry and acquired a Certified Paralegal (CP) credential. While working full time in school system administration, I completed professional training in an ABA-approved Advanced Certificate Program of Paralegal / Legal Assistant Studies. This credential provided me with tremendous learning and career opportunities that I have valued greatly. It is easily another one of the ten best career growth decisions in my life.Currently, I am learning about the commercial title insurance business. My legal services education and experience provided background that allowed me to quickly acquire my Kansas and Missouri Title Insurance Producer licenses. I am working to understand the nuances of title insurance processes and products for my company's multi-state footprint. It is an amazing time to be involved with such an in-demand service industry. I am truly excited to leverage my past experiences and adapt well-practiced skills into new capabilities.
