During a 6 month research project at the Unilever Centre for Molecular Informatics at the Cambridge University, I studied the overlap between physicochemical features of protein groups Kinases and GPCR-coupled receptors. The aim of the study was to see if drugs could be designed that could target both protein groups simultaneously. During this study, I used several computational chemistry methods, such as data mining, scripting and 3D-modeling.

In this research project, I worked on building a computer model for the prediction of motion and behavior of proteins in solution. My part in this major project of parametrizing the polarizable force field GROMOS 66 was finding right parameters for the peptide backbone part, present in all proteins. To do this, Molecular Dynamic experiments were performed, after which calculated physicochemical parameters were compared with experimental ones to see which settings in our force field would best describe the real behavior of the protein in solution.
