The devastating storms of 2011, leaving my town without power for a week each time, led me to offer my crisis communication skills to the public affairs team of my local Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). I then became certified through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and through the United Methodist Committee on Relief's (UMCOR) Early Response Team (ERT) training and Volunteers in Mission (VIM) Team Leader programs. Now I combine my skills as a seasoned marketing and public relations professional with hands-on management experience in service to those struggling to recover from natural or civil disasters across six states in New England and in New York after Super Storm Sandy.Specialties: Emergency response management, volunteer management, public and media relations, cause-related marketing, crisis management, image enhancement, internal communications, web content, agency and vendor management in hospitals, pharmaceutical, food, and professional service firms. Able to balance strategic planning with project execution. Particular interests in: - factors that influence customer experience and satisfaction to the point of advocating on behalf of an organization.
