Barrie is an interactive producer, game maker, and educator. She has special skill in curriculum development, game-based world building, and narrative design with a focus on climate justice. Barrie has produced XR, video games, makerspaces, youth coding competitions, hackathons, national design challenges, podcasts, interactive installation series, film, and generative arts. She has worked with brands and organizations across culture and the arts including PBS Kids, Activision Blizzard, HBO Max, and the Smithsonian Institution. In 2018, she founded Split Ends Media, a new media production studio dedicated to impact design. With a background in children’s educational media research, Barrie brings a unique and playful approach to content development and curation. Barrie completed graduate research in games and learning at Georgetown University (M.A.), where she studied Computer Science and Developmental Psychology. She received a postgraduate fellowship from the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania, supported by a National Science Foundation award for early education in STEM. Published research can be found in the ACM Digital Library.Barrie is a teaching artist at the DreamYard Project and a program designer with Columbia University, School of the Arts, Digital Storytelling Lab. She teaches Interactive Narrative in the NYU Tandon School of Engineering, Integrated Design & Media Program.
