Badri is a student of human movement. His curiosities arise from asking fundamental questions about movement, understanding motor control, the intent and understanding the myriad of influences that affect movement planning, execution and recognising what cognitive bias is involved in reviewing the movement. As a practising Kinesiologist, his understanding of how muscles move the joints, how the joints are positioned due to interplay with other joints, what type of contractions the muscles make to enable, to antagonise and to support movement are crucial in arriving at causation. He set up his private practice, ACTIVITY HEALS, in the year 2000, after coming back from Australia with a qualification in Human Movement Science (HMS). The basis of HMS is to understand the sciences behind movement; not fit movement to science! This fundamental shift in applying sciences to movement becomes very proactive towards understanding the 'why' & 'how' of movement. As rehab and performance specialists we get sucked into thinking segmentally and pathologically. Interestingly this is a very medical model, not a human movement model. A paradigm shift has to happen to view and resolve movement related issues in humans. This is why we believe the following: 1. You can't view movement bereft of the human! 2. We are connected as humans, our joints don't function by themselves, they yield to other joints and muscles position and pull respectively3. Our mind writes, reads, plans and produces movement, habitual, reactive, intentional or reflexive4. Story matters, there is much in the story, as practitioners we are trained to hear the crucial bits and not listen intently enough to the mycelium that flows under the chief complaints.Activity Heals (https://www.activityheals.com) is a centre where, you can tell us your story and your injury story. If we do not understand the story of you and the injury, we have no chance of understanding how and from where to help in the recovery process. We do not treat the symptom of injury unless the symptom and the causation are the same. Long term resolution of aches, pains, movement dissonance, movement disability, chronic pain lies in the understanding the cause and the sciences involved in the injury and in the persons life.24 years on, the practice never ceases to amaze me about the beauty of the body and the human that occupies it!
