Responsible for the technical support staff including safety analysis, criticality, radiological, chemical, environmental and industrial safety, quality assurance, security, and technical interfaces with state and federal regulators. Supervised and obtained a renewal of the high enriched special nuclear material operating license for 10 years. Directed the implementation of an integrated safety analysis program and an Operational Readiness Review program. Upgraded the criticality safety, chemical safety and the industrial safety programs.

Responsible for the day to day operations of the Information and Environmental Technologies Division headquartered in Oak Ridge, TN. Responsibilities included marketing strategy implementation, technical direction, and oversight of work performed by the Oak Ridge staff assuring client satisfaction, client interface, and direction of Total Quality programs. Program manager for the $5 million/yr. technical support contract for Martin Marietta Energy Systems Hazardous Waste Remedial Action Program (HAZWRAP) in the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Work for Others Program. Provided support to DOE sites nationwide, DOE HQ, Department of Defense (DOD) and other in various aspects of CERCLA site characterization and remediation. Supervised the performance of all contracts performed in the Oak Ridge office for Bechtel Hanford, Inc., SAIC, HydroGeoLogic, Inc., and others.

Responsible for operations of offices in Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina, and Missouri supporting DOE and other clients programs throughout the eastern U.S. Engineering, quality assurance, safety & health, safety analysis, air permitting, decontamination & decommissioning, environmental compliance and other technical fields was provided to clients. Oversaw program manager performance in the eastern half of the US on PAI contracts. Also served as the program manager for multimillion dollar per year contracts for Oak Ridge DOEand Savannah River DOE technical support contracts.

Recalled to active duty and sent to the U. S. Naval War College for 10 months.

Reported to the chairman of the board of American Ecology Corporation (US Ecology’s parent), and held several positions, some simultaneously, within US Ecology, Inc. President of US Ecology Environmental, Texas Ecologists, Inc. and US Ecology Nuclear. Responsible for the operation and profitability of the $17M/yr. environmental division concurrently with the operation of the $25M/yr. nuclear division and a subsidiary, DETOX, Inc., a specialized engineering firm in biological treatment of groundwater. Long range planning, profitability, budgeting, personnel management, engineering, waste handling operations, and central data management were some of the responsibilities included.
