I directed my first work, "Bidar Shodan" (Waking Up), a play by award-winning author Cori Thomas, for a private students event of Carbon Theater Company in 2020. Waking Up is a play that explores the impact of breast cancer on two women from different cultures and backgrounds. Anna, a 35-year-old lawyer from New York, and Nia, a 25-year-old farmer from Kenya, both receive the devastating diagnosis and embark on a journey of survival and recovery. It highlights the differences and similarities between their experiences, and how they reflect the universal human spirit.I received lots of positive feedback from the audience and the professors.
