2002-2009 CIDAssigned to the Criminal Investigations Division, to the unit you some called “The Special Victim’s Unit.” Responsible for the investigation of all sexual assaults, child abuse, and vulnerable adult investigations. Due to the sensitive nature of these crimes, it is a very specialized field of investigation. Responded to crime scenes; interviewed victims and obtaining detailed statements. Conducted neighborhood canvasses locating and interviewing all available witnesses to allow for the effective identification and apprehension of wanted persons. Interviewed and interrogated hundreds of suspects, obtaining confessions as well as information on other criminal activity, leading to the arrest and convictions of those involved. Testified in state and federal courts throughout MD, DC and VA. Acted as the lead investigator on several serial or string cases, multi-jurisdictional and numerous others during my tenure. These investigations have ended in closures with arrests - which lead to convictions and lengthy jail time.1998-2002 DetectiveAssigned as a station detective and was promoted to corporal. Responsible for the investigation of crimes against property and persons not investigated by the Criminal Investigations Division. These included theft rings, vehicle theft, burglary, financial crimes, assault, robberies, murder attempts, as well as certain vice law violations. Tasked with assisting additional investigative units both within our department as well as other departments when needed.1994-1998 Patrol Initial assigned to the patrol division handling calls for service. Enforced laws and prepared reports, recording the information of suspicious vehicles and persons. Conducted preliminary investigations, interviewed victims, witnesses and suspects. When warranted, effected arrest or issued citations for violations as observed preparing the case for judicial proceedings.
