As a participant in the Primary Care Scholars Program, I learned more about primary care and the unique curriculum at Penn State College of Medicine. I heard from physicians who completed additional fellowships in family medicine that I previously did not know existed and learned more about the roles of a pediatrician, general internist, and family medicine physician. I am also responsible for completing 32-40 hours of shadowing a primary care physician as part of the program.

I was a mentee in the BRIDGE Program, a mentorship program Penn State College of Medicine students offer undergraduate pre-med students at Penn State. I met once a month with my mentors, attended panels to hear from medical professionals at various stages of training, and was mentored on how to enhance medical school applications. My BRIDGE mentors have given me great insight into their experiences at PSU-COM, which has furthered my desire to attend this institution.

I was a teaching assistant for BBH310H: Research Methods in Biobehavioral Health, an honors course offered for students receiving their honors in BBH through the Schreyer Honors College. I worked directly with Dr. Helen Kamens, and I attended class and completed worksheets to provide feedback from a student's perspective. I enjoy learning about these passions and assisting students in understanding more about the research process as they begin outlining their thesis required for graduation.
