During my time at Texas Tech University, I studied animal science with a concentration in large animal veterinary care and a minor in chemistry. I spent considerable time in lab and farm settings, gaining insight into both the research and practical applications of livestock management practices. As a student, I discovered a passion for the cutting edge of agriculture that led me to pursue research. As an undergraduate researcher, I was afforded the opportunity to participate in multiple sides of the research process including literature review, study conduct, analysis, and publication. My time spent as a research assistant and now as a regulatory specialist have provided me with communication, time management, and customer service skills. In both positions, I had to accurately and effectively develop and manage research documents while maintaining communication with teams across the United States. Also, I had to mediate between research teams, sponsors, and review boards to help develop persuasive and significant research. My employment experiences outside of research acted to strengthen my skills in unique ways. My experiences with leading trail rides and equine-assisted therapy sessions taught me how to manage stressful situations while maintaining precise and effective communication. Working with both livestock and humans presents unique challenges that require a level head and the ability to anticipate in order to ensure safety.
