Growing up, I was always intimidated by computers. In college, I hated the intro to coding course math majors were required to take. Three years later, tired of banging my head against the wall with proofs and papers, I decided to change my major. I tried a CS class again. But this time everything clicked and I knew that this was the industry I needed to be in. I switched to CS and finished the entire degree in 2 years. I was so excited to get to use the analytical and critical thinking skills that I craved with mathematics.It was like a whole new world was open to me.During those 2 years, I was able to intern at CGI and Open Lending. They were wonderful opportunities to grow professionally and use my academic skills outside of class, for which I am so grateful. Now as a new graduate and a new hire, I am thrilled to continue to funnel my passion into yet another collaborative, engaging workplace. I hope to keep learning and exploring all that the world of tech offers. Additionally, I hope to encourage any other person who may be intimidated by engineering fields, especially young women and minorities - you CAN do it.
