Manage computer network facilities which consist of Sun Workstations & Servers running Solaris 2.6 – 2.8, Hewlett Packard Workstations & Servers running HPUX 10.20, several hundred PCs running Win 2000/XP. Administration and user support for 800 undergraduate students, 150 graduate students, and 50+ faculty and staff. Installation/upgrade the OS and supporting applications for all operating systems. Dealt with all security matters, including virus protection, IDS, OS/application patch installations, and policy enforcement. Facilitated the maintenance and upkeep of department web page. Managed a team of fulltime and student helpdesk (lab consultant) employees. I had the great opportunity to architect the new fiber network in the new ChE (Forny) building addition which was a 98K+ square foot research and teaching space.

Support image-processing research with in the school of ECE by maintaining 100+ computer systems. Of these workstations 50+ are running HPUX 10.20, 30+ are running Solaris 2.6, remaining systems are running Windows NT 4.0 and various distributions of Linux. Managed a team of 10 student consultants doing a variety of administrative tasks.

While attending Purdue University as an undergradate student I had the privilege of working as a web application / web page developer for the schools of engineering. Primary role was assisting with the design, deployment and upkeep of the ECN's web page and various academic unit web pages. Various web progamming projects utilizing CGI, server side scripts, and image maps. This was the early days of the modern web, I felt like a cowboy in the wild west. Lots of use C/C++, korn shell, troff, early version of perl, and of course HTML v1.0 - 3.0. Anybody remember Mosaic and monochrome Sun Sparc IPCs that's the environment I had to work in and loved it!
