As a member of matrixed and diverse engineering and planning teams, I focus on energy, economic, and environmental issues daily. I’ve worked closely with rural Native Alaskan villages seeking energy independence in the form of small hydroelectric powerplants. State governmental departments have placed me on teams tasked with assessing and prioritizing rehabilitation projects for aging water management infrastructure. Economic viability, environmental impacts, funding sources, and involvement with communities of interest for projects are the foundation for my work. As a licensed civil engineer and having earned a Master’s in Public Administration, I am well suited to build relationships and be a translator between technical, public, and policy realms. I bring a human element to difficult and technical conversations. Facilitating a shared understanding through connection with the communities I work with helps me build and maintain my working and personal relationships.The projects I’ve been part of have required strong teamwork and direction from leadership. As a leader, I seek to strategically involve all team members through empowering and pushing boundaries. I value engagement from team members and seek input, but am firm in decision making unless change is needed.
