For the past six summers I have run my own business. I give private swim lessons to kids in my community. Doing this has not only given me the opportunity to have a stable summer income, but has allowed me to gain valuable interpersonal communication skills. I aim to accomplish the goals of the swimmer, and parent gradually over the summer. In order to do this I have conversations with each family at the beginning of the summer, and then create custom lesson plans for each lesson. Creating this win-win situation, I carefully track the progress of each swimmer and communicate progress with the parents. In order to do this, I have to be very organized and be a very good communicator. Since I am my own boss, I am also responsible for all of the behind the scenes work that goes into the swim lessons. This involves marketing, scheduling, and often rescheduling. Running this business has increased my professional maturity because I learned how to problem solve.

For five summers, I was an assistant coach for my local swim team helping swimmers aged two to twelve get better at swimming.

I was heavily involved in DECA throughout high school. I was a two time state qualifier and a one time international qualifier. I competed in two written events as well as two role plays. My sophomore year I competed in Principles of Hospitality (PHT), my junior year I competed in Business Operations Research (BOR), and my senior year I competed in Project Management Community Giving (PMCG) and Business Service Marketing (BSM).
