As a dedicated 7th grade math teacher with a background that includes research for an NSF-funded project, I have a passion for enhancing math education. I bring a unique blend of classroom teaching experience and rigorous academic research to my role. My journey in education is driven by a commitment to make math accessible and engaging for all students, fostering an environment where young learners can develop a strong foundation in mathematical concepts and critical thinking skills.My teaching philosophy centers around creating interactive and inclusive learning experiences that encourage students to explore math beyond traditional methods. I believe in leveraging technology and innovative teaching strategies to cater to diverse learning styles, ensuring that each student can find joy and confidence in their math abilities.In addition to my role in the classroom, I have been involved in the NSF-funded VCAST project conducted in affiliation with Boise State University. This design-based research project aims to create curriculum materials that engage secondary teacher candidates in tackling complex mathematical tasks while also analyzing secondary students' written and oral attempts at these tasks. The goal is to enhance teacher proficiency in assessing student performance, especially in cases where student responses are diverse or fail to clearly convey their problem-solving strategies.I hold a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Boise State University, with a middle school mathematics endorsement. I graduated with Highest Honors and was selected by the Dean of the College of Education to represent the department at the 2021 Spring commencement ceremony.I am always eager to connect with fellow educators, researchers, and anyone interested in discussing innovative approaches to math education, technology education, or the application of advanced learning methods in private industry.
