Baiza's core responsibilities at Maybank Private Equity are as follows;i) The overall management of the team and the balance sheet of Maybank Private Equityii) Oversight of the current investment portfolio consisting of 3 investee companies-Rockstar Gym, an Indonesian children’s gym company with presence in Indonesia and Malaysia -YPX, a Taiwanese food chain with 34 restaurants across China-Sedania Innovator, a Fintech company that is listed on Malaysia’s ACE marketiii) Serving as the corporate representative of Maybank and also as the designated board member for all the investee companies aboveiv) Sourcing of new private equity dealsv) Creation of new funds and speaking to potential investors for potential entry into these fundsvi) Regular reporting to the Maybank Asset Management Group Investment committee and to the board of Maybank Private EquityIn this role, Baiza reports directly to the Head of Group Global Banking at Maybank.

Baiza's core responsibilities at Maybank Asset Management Group are to set up strategic partnerships to facilitate the business expansion of the group and also to create products in new asset classes that would diversify the current offerings. In addition, Baiza also plays a pivotal role in the global fund raising efforts by the group. Currently, Maybank Asset Management Group operates across 4 countries within the ASEAN region with various strategic partnerships globally. In this role, Baiza reports directly to the Group Chief Executive Officer of Maybank Asset Management.

Baiza's core responsibility at Amanie is to spearhead the Shariah consulting service. Among the core tasks performed as part of this consulting service is the structuring and development of Islamic Funds (equity, private equity, fixed income, money market, sukuk,real estate, hedge fund etc), Islamic Capital Market products (Sukuk, Medium Term Notes, Murabaha notes, structured product etc.), Islamic Banking Products (Retail banking, corporate banking, financing products etc.) Baiza was instrumental in the establishment and managed the Amanie international Shariah board consisting of 4 Shariah scholars of global repute. In addition to the above,working together with the Amanie team Baiza also spearheaded the development of a web based Shariah Stock Screening Service product that is currently used by many asset management clients as a tool to assist them in Shariah investments.Baiza currently serves as an advisor to a few notable global asset management companies, providing insight to Shariah structuring and day to day operational guidance.

As part of Guidance's Structuring and Institutional business team, Baiza was involved in the development of a Shariah mortgage/home ownership program in the US under an innovative musyarakah structure platform,the structuring of a Shariah mortgage back securities (MBS) program in collaboration with Freddie Mac to securitize over USD500 million worth of mortgages that was generated by Guidance, the structuring and development of a Euro 150 million Guidance Financial Group Shariah Pan European Real Estate fund.Baiza also was tasked to ensure the successful placement of various Shariah funds (fixed income, real estate and private equity) with potential investors in the Middle East and Europe.In addition to the above reponsibilities, Baiza also worked closely with Guidance's International Shariah Board consisting of globally renowned Shariah scholars on matters concerning product development and advisory projects. Baiza's last assignment for Guidance was to successfully establish and manage Guidance's Kuala Lumpur office.

Baiza was part of the Navis Capital investment team that ran an USD100 million Shariah private equity fund. Among the core task performed by Baiza was the Shariah structuring of the various investments that were made by the fund, the Shari’ah due diligence for prospective investments and also compliance audit for the operations of the fund. Baiza was also tasked as the liaison with members of the fund’s Shariah board to maintain the Shariah integrity of the Shariah fund and its investments. During his time at Navis, Baiza participated in 10 investment deals throughout Asia Pacific and Europe.

Baiza was part of the team that was responsible in the setup and maintenance of the IslamiQ.com web portal, the first full fledged Islamic Finance portal in the world. Baiza was tasked to lead the project team in the development of a Shariah stock screening mechanism and software that allow users to identify halal stocks in major exchanges like NYSE, NASDAQ,KLSE and LSE. Baiza also worked directly with the members of IslamiQ’s international Shariah board on internal issues and also on advisory projects. In addition to the above responsibilities, Baiza was also tasked to identify and gather many offshore Shariah funds under an online “supermarket of funds” distribution platform where potential investors can access critical information and invest into these funds.
