Self employed consultant providing services to third party companies comprising small UK animal feed companies for the development of export sales of animal feedstuffs. Developed niche market sales of Waterfowl, Equine and pet food as well as the mainstream products required in the Middle East and Africa for poultry and bovine animals. With the issues arising from BSE and Foot & Mouth disease, exports from the Uk became very difficult and required me to look for alternative employment

I began my career with Pauls in 1977 as a Technical Sales Executive to develop the sales of animal feedstuffs to a wide range of markets including Africa and the Middle East. I undertook extensive travel overseas and when Pauls established a corporate investment in Nigeria I resided there for 8 months to establish local market sales. Upon my return to the UK I utilised my experience to develop the export administration and procurement function. In 1985 Pauls looked to develop other investments in overseas markets and I undertook a four year period of project investigation, evaluation and implementation, including operating within the USA. In 1989 I became Commercial manager of feed export activities, a role which reported to the Managing Director. I successfully increased turnover from £1.5 million to £3.0 million and achieved the required levels of profitability (7.5%). My responsibilities aside from sales development included the preparation of MI, budgets, pricing, foreign currency management and the provision of technical support. My career with Pauls ended with redundancy in 1992 when Pauls underwent a major re-structure and reduced the scope of the business to focus on the UK animal feed market.
