Prior to the official opening of The Coffee Cup, I was seeking a job that would recognize and enhance my expertise in communication and web design. As a new café in Providence, The Coffee Cup presented numerous foundational opportunities, and I embraced this as a chance to diversify my skills - becoming an integral part of a burgeoning business. I leveraged the café's opening to not only acquire barista skills but also to advance my teamwork and communication abilities. Additionally, for the first time in my freelance career, I undertook the role of developing and managing a website for a legitimate business.Since joining The Coffee Cup, I have honed my skillset, established myself as the most seasoned staff member, and even temporarily assumed the role of store manager. Providence Haven was originally founded as a musicians collaboration and brand expander. Throughout 2020 my organization has become more involved with social justice groups and has transformed into a leadership collective. At Providence Haven we are mobilizing with education and justice coalitions who engage with local representatives. Our new direction and mission statement is to create an education curriculum for Providence schools (and soon beyond) that teaches our youth the importance of self-identification within the matrices of American and global ideologies. Our program is embedded with cultural diversification, ethics composition and community development, and in order to solidify our organization as a professional entity we are earning certifications in the healthcare field and education field in order to collaborate with orgs like TASK, Sunrise and Brown University more effectively. We are becoming an agent within these systems that connects resources to the people who are willing or already combating social injustice issues.
