Can a journalist make a career transition to a process engineer, improvement and standardization specialist? Hey, it can happen. It did. There is life after newspapers, and I'm here to tell you about it. After spending 13 years in journalism, I reinvented myself in 2012 when I joined CGS Administrators, LLC in Nashville. I served as a process improvement project manager, where I provided support to executive-level areas, including the strategic planning, deployment and coordination of the Quality Management System (QMS), contract implementation and process improvement initiatives. I utilized my deadline-driven newspapering experiences of writing, editing, marketing, communications, supervising and project management and took them to the next level through process improvement methodologies, where I became a key multi-faceted company asset.I joined the Cigna management team in June 2019 as a focused operational area process engineer, improvement and standardization specialist, and in July 2021 became an Agile Product Owner in support of the largest investment in Cigna Medicare history on the Cornerstone Program. In August 2022, I joined EnlivenHealth (an Omnicell innovation) as Agile Product Owner, and rejoined Cigna in May 2023 to manage its Medicare Explanation of Benefits and Maximum Out-of-Pocket processes. Originally from South Carolina, I spent a decade in Texas before moving to Nashville. Away from the office, you will find me urban gardening, grilling, exploring Tennessee and traveling with my wife Victoria.
