I am a Strategy Director at Changing Suits, a non-profit community organisation called Changing Suits, whose purpose is to break through cultural barriers and reduce inequalities in society. We use our personal experiences to raise awareness about issues which are not openly discussed within the South Asian community. Moreover, we work with service providers to promote South Asian community engagement to get the support they need. We are proud to have worked with a range of national and local organisations, including the NHS and local councils. Examples of our projects include: - Sahara Health Fair, which is to Raise Awareness about Mental Health in the South Asian community - Information Days for Special Educational Needs for the South Asian community - Breast Cancer awareness event - Taboo!Talk, our monthly online discussion group covering various taboo topics - Wellbeing Workshops with mental health talksChanging Suits works over a range of platforms, including podcasts, awareness events, service provider training and data collection. I have scope of a variety of service areas including health, housing and the environment.As a cabinet members for Environment and Highways, I was involved in the strategic development and implementation, working with national bodies, on a wide range of policies. These included promoting green schemes such as tree planting and education in schools, the Crossrail development in partnership with London Transport and supporting businesses through schemes such of free parking zones for customers.I am passionate about promoting diversity, equality and inclusivity thus have campaigned for human right for over 20 years, including fairer maternity rights for women in employment and justice campaigns for minority groups.
