This is one of the major vision projects within the company’s RCM initiatives.• Established a detailed product quality plan in collaboration with the supplier, and developed their knowledge of our application and its functional requirements.• Developed a robust drill bit for an engineering sidewall coring tool through computational and experimental methods. Jobs Between Incidents reduced from 11 to 0. Zero failures after more than 1500 drilled and recovered cores till date.• Developed and tested an alternate design for the same application, with focus on performance improvement. Observed more than 40% reduction in coring time.• Reduced the Non Productive Time by 91% by designing a functional concentricity gage for efficient screening of bits, both in-house and at the supplier end. The concept was granted Ideas & Innovation award.• Formulated a CFD model using particle tracking method in ANSYS 14.5 workbench, which can be used to quickly validate the performance of various prototype designs, and thus shorten the overall design cycle time.• Co-authored design guidelines and standards (DfHSE) for weld plugs installation in wireline products to address serious health and safety concerns in manufacturing and field locations.• Developed weld plugs and related drawings for a hydraulic manifold component (DfHSE) within the sidewall coring tool, which would replace existing expansion plug designs, and thus save costs related to employees’ safety and health.• Tested hydraulic gear pumps for sidewall coring operations, to improve efficiency and eliminate stalling issues seen in field applications. -
