Bala Subramanian serves as Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Digital and Technology Officer at UPS. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, he is responsible for leading the company’s digital transformation to enhance customer and employee experiences, build digital fluency and improve organizational agility. He drives the overall strategy, design, development and execution of UPS’s technology and industrial engineering functions. Bala oversees UPS Digital Inc., Enterprise Technology, IT Technical Support Services, Application Development, Data Sciences, Information Security, Customer Solutions, Operations Technology, Operations Engineering and Research & Development. In this role, Bala is focused on making it easier to do business with UPS and giving employees new tools to unleash more innovation for the company’s customers. Bala most recently served as Chief Digital Officer at AT&T where he led the transformation of customer and employee experiences across all company touchpoints. Before then, he was Chief Digital Officer at Best Buy, part of the senior leadership team involved in the company’s digital transformation. Earlier in his career, Bala served in technology leadership roles at T-Mobile U.S. and Ericsson. Bala holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a Master of Science in electrical engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He serves on the board of directors for Cars.com and the Dutch multinational retailer Ahold Delhaize.
