About Benito Alcala

I have over 15 years of experience working in Information Technology. Currently, I work as Support Desk Analyst focusing primarily on fixing users' Window desktop issues but am looking at moving back into the Linux server / Internet space.Previously, I spent 8 years at Rackspace, 5 years providing Fanatical Support to Linux customers and 3 years in Operations supporting several DevOps teams. While there I took part in the One Rackspace project where I upgraded several outdated Confluence wikis in order to migrate them into a consolidated company-wide Confluence wiki. I also spent 3+ years at Texas A&M University-Kingsville where I was responsible for the Learning Management system. Projects I worked on while at TAMU-K include migrating WebCT from Solaris to Linux, integrating WebCT with the Banner student information system and standing up an instance of Blackboard to convert WebCT courses in order to migrate them to a hosted Blackboard solution.My skills include Linux / Apache / MySQL / PHP, server hardware, operating systems, databases, virtualization, networking as well as diagnosis, troubleshooting and solving technical issues.
