Since completing my junior housemanship, my career has involved a wide range of specialties, initially all of my posts were part of a structured rotation geared towards general practice. I have gained enormously in all my SHO jobs and as a result have developed a sound basis of knowledge & clinical judgment. Since completing my general practice training, I continued to locum in accident & emergency to become more at ease in dealing with acutely unwell medical patients as well as the great variety of conditions that may also present in the community. I have also worked aboard cruise ships - in part to travel the world and despite having had some sleepless nights with ill patients whilst at sea, I have to admit I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. However, after completing my contract in 2011, I travelled for a further 8 months and since my return started working within the pharmaceutical medicine industry, predominantly in clinical research organizations. I have worked for just over 3 years within this setting becoming a Principal Investigator in my most recent job as well as setting up and leading a new site, I feel that I now am ready to transfer the skills gained in these previous posts into a larger organization. I am now committed to continuing in this field and will be applying for PMST as well as having been accepted to King’s College London in September to do a part time Clinical Pharmacology Postgraduate Certificate.
