Executive responsibility for all product development, product sales, and supply chain activities for a worldwide chain of coffee houses (brand name The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf) located in 31 countries). Also maintain executive responsibility for the company’s wholesale channels of sales and distribution. Responsibilities include: Consumer research and product strategy, product development, demand planning, product sourcing and raw material buying, corporate purchasing, third party logistics, global distribution, quality assurance and manufacturing. Responsible for (1) company owned coffee roasting plant (Camarillo) and (1) company owned commercial bakery (Santa Monica). Sales division is comprised of 4000 plus grocery outlets, 550 mass and club locations and a food service coffee division. Significant P n L responsibility including $75.0mm in direct product spend, an additional $25.0mm in indirect spend. Maintain overall responsibility for the company’s cost of goods sold (COGS) for both the corporate and franchise divisions. Manage a staff of Directors and Senior Managers (10 direct reports) and an overall group of 150 employees. Report directly to company President/CEO and accountable to the Board of Directors.

San Clemente California

Overall responsibility for directing all product and supply chain activities for 125 + restaurant locations (brand name Pick Up Stix). Supply Chain functions included: Product development and go to market testing, demand planning, product sourcing, purchasing, inventory control, warehousing, direct store delivery, third party logistics and customer service. Also responsible for the operation of a company owned commissary for the areas of poultry, produce, and sauces (food manufacturing plant). Overall selection, retention and management of six salary staff members and 50+ hourly personnel. Preparation and adherence to company budgets. Capacity planning and supply chain system design. Served as primary liaison between local supply chain group and corporate supply chain (Dallas and Minneapolis). Additional responsibilities included membership of steering committee for strategic sourcing (parent company brands TGI Friday’s, Radisson Hotels). Completed a build out and startup of both a new manufacturing site (commissary) and a distribution center start up in San Clemente CA. Launched an additional initiative relating to manufacturing and selling food products to various QSR chains as a means of leveraging fixed costs throughout the supply chain. Reported directly to company president.

Executive responsibility for the overall supply chain and wholesale sales division of a national formalwear chain (brand Gingiss formalwear and Gary’s tux shops). Responsible for directing the operations of (5) production facilities/distribution centers and direct store delivery to 400 + company formalwear retail locations. Also responsible for both sales and distribution to an additional 1000 + wholesale outlets (brand name Jeffrey Morton). Selection, retention and management of salary staff members, an outside and inside sales force, and hourly personnel. Preparation and adherence to operational budgets, capital planning, demand planning, regulatory compliance, garment procurement, inventory control, private fleet operations and all customer service activities. Served as a Vice Chair of an acquisition team managed by the private equity shareholders and effectively acquired (3) regional formalwear chains which were seamlessly integrated into the base company. Served on the transition team which sold the company to a strategic buyer. Reported to the Company CEO.

Corporate Headquarters Glendale California

Responsible for directing and coordinating all logistics and distribution activities at both the corporate and operational level in support of a nationwide 2600+ location franchised system. Additionally responsible for international expansion start up logistics and transition to local sourcing and manufacturing. Overall logistics functions included: Distribution requirements planning, demand planning, overall corporate logistics, inventory buying, management of (4) distribution centers, private fleet operations, customer service, safety/regulatory compliance, outsourced distribution relationships and human resource management. Established a direct sales function for a revenue generating backhaul program and established a food service ice cream division. Served on a strategic task force which resulted in the complete re structure of the company’s supply chain to an outsourced model. Co-directed the implementation of the supply chain re structure including multiple manufacturing plant shut downs and distribution center start ups.

Ontario Ca

Responsible for the management of shipping and transportation from a high velocity mega plant to 17 regional distribution centers. Activities included: Dispatch and routing, private fleet management, selection and retention of company drivers (union environment), common carrier management, DOT compliance, safety and regulatory, distribution budgeting and control. Responsible for the operational function of a “for hire” backhaul program with outside customers.
