Being an educator has been a life-long journey and I've had the opportunity to use my experiences and skills in many different settings. I have worked in three very different school environments, from rural to urban and from no diversity to multi-cultural. In a classroom setting, I have had to be very flexible, as the daily routine can change with unexpected fire drills, fights, or disruption of technology. Over the course of my twenty-two years as a teacher, some of the skills I have refined are establishing daily routines; creating innovative lessons; learning new skills with technology and being remote through COVID; mentoring students, teachers, and prospective teachers; and helping students succeed in my classroom.
