My current role had the initial goal of delivering design verification and validation of the dialysis machine, meeting all regulatory requirements of the target markets. This involved defining the approach to V+V then the development of operating procedures, work instructions, processes, procedures and documentation standards to be followed. I planned and managed the large multi-function team tasked with verifying the device, delivering the test evidence to support the CE and 510(k) certifications and commercial launch in the UK and US. Throughout the verification process, the approach has been lean, agile and rapidly reconfigurable to fast moving commercial needs.I am now supporting post-launch feature releases and ancillaries, looking to further reduce test time and cost whilst maintaining quality, looking at new test methods and procedures.I am involved in supporting all aspects of test of the device from incorporating software level tests, through system level lab tests to validation testing and manufacturing testing. The work includes bringing together multi-disciplinary teams from across the business. My background in software development and testing has allowed me to develop scripted tools for improved test efficiency and status visualisation. My experience of Agile methodologies (as a certified Scrum Master) has helped me introduce new work tracking systems to aid in delivering on an aggressive product development schedule.This is an exciting role, requiring significant agility to context switch between the different needs of the business and regulatory domains. The aim of Quanta is to support home dialysis; it is gratifying to know that every time one of our devices is used, it is not only saving someone’s life, but allowing them to live.

In this role I specialised in software system test engineering, with responsibilities for test case analysis, management, implementation, execution and reporting. I developed fully automated system tests utilising a range of testing tools and scripting languages. In addition, I created new spoken language configurations for an audio mining product. I gained excellent experience in working within the high product quality requirements of a large telecommunications company as well as working within a truly Agile and Lean development team.

Part of a team developing customer focussed software solutions for audio mining, with responsibilities in all aspects of the product development cycle including optimising core technology, application design, product coding, packaging and final system testing. Gained good experience of working in a highly productive and agile team, rapidly switching focus to deliver complex applications to tight deadlines and to high quality.

Working in a small product development team to create high performance speech based command and control interfaces for aeronautics and automotive applications, projects where I was lead developer. Increasingly involved in product development of novel applications for audio alignment, audio mining and hand-held devices. Gained experience in product integration and product development from design to build, working in a fast moving, responsive and flexible team with typically 3 month product turnaround times.

The role was chiefly to demonstrate practical uses of speech technology, with concept demonstrator systems based on a multi-modal rapid prototyping toolkit I designed and implemented. I gained good experience in bid preparation, technology marketing and gained a worldwide reputation as an expert in speech interfaces in aviation and automotive applications.

Worked in a small product development team where I created a rapidly configurable spoken dialogue management system for telephone applications. Gained a good experience of short timescale product development and delivery, programming production code in C++.

A research role developing noise robust speech recognition technology before developing an expertise in the human factors of speech based interfaces. Started management of small research projects culminating in managing a medium sized cross-site research project.
