During my post-doctoral fellowship at KU Leuven, I contributed to the SIMPLANT and DIMAG projects, which are part of the Graphene Flagship initiative. My research focused on the growth and tuning of two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors through a combination of molecular beam epitaxy and ultra-low energy ion implantation. This work involved:🔬 Advanced Material Growth: Exploring novel methods to enhance 2D semiconductor properties using molecular beam epitaxy and ion implantation techniques.⚙️ Property Tuning & Electronic Phenomena: Developing and applying ion implantation strategies to tailor material properties and uncover new electronic phenomena in 2D materials.🧪 Comprehensive Characterization: Conducting detailed material characterization using both in-house and synchrotron-based surface-sensitive techniques, including photoemission (XPS, ARPES), microscopy (STM), diffraction (XRD, LEED), and Raman spectroscopy.This experience has deepened my expertise in 2D materials and advanced semiconductor technologies.

During my doctoral research, I focused on the synthesis and characterization of cutting-edge two-dimensional (2D) materials, with a particular emphasis on transition metal dichalcogenides. My work at the Nanoscale Materials Laboratory and the SuperESCA beamline at Elettra Synchrotron involved:🔬 Advanced Material Synthesis: Specialized in the growth of 2D materials, particularly transition metal dichalcogenides, under ultra-high vacuum (UHV) conditions.🔍 In-Depth Material Analysis: Utilized a variety of sophisticated surface science techniques—including XPS, XPD, ARPES, STM, and LEED—to thoroughly investigate the properties and behaviors of these materials.This research experience allowed me to deepen my expertise in nanomaterials and surface science, contributing to the broader understanding of 2D materials.
