At Music Verandah Foundation, I am actively involved to support 2 global movements:Music Verandah which is a movement to heal through music and connection. It embodies the pursuit of supreme joy and bliss through the seemless integration of Music and Art forms along with well-being, spirituality and sustainability.Green Verandah which is to inspire well-being, sustainability and green in our respective lives.

This work resulted in peer-reviewed publications with an impact factor of 8 and a benchmark methods paper.https://doi.org/10.7554/eLife.90529.1https://doi.org/10.1186/s12915-021-01064-7https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jneumeth.2017.05.001We established that lab strains of mice possess sufficient innate olfactory ability to obtain ethologically relevant information from the chemosensory cues of not only other lab strains but wild strains as well. We also identified chemicals in mice urine, which signal an animal’s specific molecular fingerprints. For this contribution, I received prestigious Lady Davis post-doctoral Fellowship and The Golda Mier Award.

Cellular BiologyDuring this time, I learnt molecular work in two widely used model systems, Drosophila and zebrafish in Developmental and Biomedical Genetics laboratory, IISc. The aim of the project was to understand the possible role of MCPH (primary microcephaly) gene in neuronal proliferation and cell fate recognition.

My doctoral research resulted in citation classic international publication in the field of herpetology and biogeography. (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ympev.2010.06.008)We demonstrated that despite its ubiquitous distribution in the Indian subcontinent, non-Gondvanan Hemidactylus taxa has multiple layers of evolution, including dispersals both into-India and Out-of-India. We also rediscovered and resurrected the Gondwanan Dravidogecko anamallensis.
