I taught College Writing, Literature, and Speech courses. The greatest joy was teaching the same courses in Allentown city high schools as dual-enrollment. My special focus in teaching these courses was helping students connect with their passions and turn them into a vision for their future.

I led a team of writers in developing a powerfully innovative, project-based curriculum for a network of charter schools. We guided 20+ teachers across PA through implementation, observed classrooms, gathered feedback, analyzed data, and revised for improvement.

I taught English at all grade and skill levels. I managed the Gifted Program with a caseload of 60+ students per year. I increased enrollment in Gifted Seminar by over 300% in three years and earned the Keystone Technology Integrator award for developing a student-directed learning curriculum with the aid of tech tools.

I wrote feature articles for publications around the world; visited interesting places, interviewed people, crafted stories, edited copy; specialized in religion, the arts, and the Middle East.

I taught English at all skill levels. I designed and taught special courses like a web-writing course for journalists and an academic prep course for Syrian Ismaili students. I also developed instructional technology plans and maintained a tech training program for the center's 20+ teachers.

I got on an airplane for a one-year teaching adventure that turned into five. I taught all levels of ESL, dodged fireworks, broke up fights, and triaged fellow teachers' emotional crises. It was a tough job but I loved it, and it made me basically unafraid of anything.
