Dr Basel Barakat received his MSc and PhD student from the University of Greenwich and a visiting researcher at the Digital Technology Research Group at the University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory. Dr Basel PhD thesis was on 'Delivering Fresh Information for Real-time Internet of Things'Prior to his PhD, he worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Greenwich investigating Internet of Things Machine-to-Machine Communication protocols. Basel has several research inserts in the field of telecommunications such as the Real-time Systems, Internet of Things (IoT), telehealth, LTE-Advanced, Radio Resources Management (RRM), Machine Type Communications (MTC), Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. Basel has several technical peer-reviewed publications in journals and conferences. He was awarded as Best MSc project and Best Student for his MSc studies. For his MSc, he awarded a Distinction in the overall mark. Previously, in his BSc studies he led an excellent marked graduation project, moreover, scored a very good in the total marks.In his PhD, at the University of Greenwich, he investigated the communication policies for real-time IoT networks. Also, he is a visiting researcher at the University of Cambridge Computer Lab.He had worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Greenwich in an RAE competitive project: ‘Towards 5G: Air Interface Techniques to Enhance Carrier Aggregation in 5G’.Through his MSc studies, he took several advanced courses like Advanced Communication Technology, Advanced Microwave Theory and Advanced Mobile Communications. Throughout this research I used LTE-A Vienna simulator to test the proposed enhancements. So far I proposed and simulated an adaptive hybrid scheduling algorithm that is able to overcome the effect of feedback delay. This project has enhanced my skills significantly, because being a part of a professional research project requires a skills set that differ than being a student participating in a research.
