Barbara Carson is the Deputy Associate Administrator for the Office of Government Contracting and Business Development, U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). At SBA, she addresses all small business contracting and business development matters relating to the $100B annual federal contracting spend with small businesses. Barb began her service at SBA in 2013 as the Associate Administrator, Office of Veterans Business Development where she empowered veteran entrepreneurship by developing, implementing, and promoting programs to equip veteran, servicemember (active duty, National Guard, Reserve), and military spouse owned small businesses with counseling and education, access to capital, and contracting opportunities. Barb is also a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve (USAFR), assigned to the Secretary of the Air Force Office of Public Affairs. She has over twenty years of active duty and reserve experience in nuclear command and control and public affairs with assignments across the United States, Japan and Europe. While in Okinawa, Japan she founded a small business with a fellow veteran and continues to be passionate about entrepreneurship opportunities for veterans.

Colonel Barbara (Barb) Carson is a public affairs officer assigned to the Secretary of the Air Force Office of Public Affairs. She provides counsel to senior leaders, develops communication strategy and coordinates dynamic engagement of national level media to amplify the missions of the U.S. Air Force.

Francis E. Warren Air Force Base

Commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force on graduation day, where she was acknowledged as a Distinguished Graduate of the Air Force ROTC program. Carson served as an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) crew member and achieved the position of Senior Missile Combat Crew Evaluator for the Peacekeeper ICBM force. She also served as an Emergency War Order (EWO) instructor and executive officer to the 90th Missile Wing Operations Group and Support Group commanders.
