Teaching children is my passion. Whether it's being a homeroom teacher to a class of students or a special education teacher who works with small groups and one-on-one, I am driven to get to know each personality I work with and what their interests are so that I can connect with them as I believe relationship opens the door to learning. I have taken several Additional Qualification courses to keep my educational knowledge current and relevant. I began a therapy dog program at our school as part of our sensory offerings in order to reach more students. I have also run a reading program that involves recruiting and training parent as well as student volunteers to work with young emergent readers. This program has been an important aspect of reading success for several of our students. With the onset of the current pandemic, I have immersed myself in learning how to successfully provide quality and meaningful education for my students through remote online learning.
