I was recruited by an R&D leader to work on an Engineering Scale Experiment (ESE) Demonstration of the Pyrochemical Actinide Recycle Process (ARP) at the Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois. DELIVERED RESULTS:► Helped perform a feasibility study to use Advanced Liquid Metal Reactor (ALMR) to dispose of excess weapons plutonium by investigating safeguards monitoring under the umbrella of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).► Contributed to the design and operation of the multi-glovebox inert atmosphere system to perform high temperature (pyro) chemical processes to recover transuranium (TRU) elements from spent Light Water Reactor (LWR) fuel.► Wrote the System Design Description (SDD), analyzed hazard scenarios, and summarized design review information for the Safety Review. I also created the glovebox and purification system Start-up and Operating Procedures

In this role, I ideated and earned approval for a new project, the Lunar Resource Processing: Making Liquid Oxygen Propellant on the Moon. DELIVERED RESULTS:► Developed a process to make liquid oxygen rocket fuel propellant in-situ from the moon's natural resources by evaluating 16 lunar oxygen processes and devising ranking methods to produce the industry’s first summary report on the topic. This report assisted in advancing technical development efforts between Bechtel and NASA. ► Collaborated with NASA and university research groups to create detailed papers and present at conferences nationwide. ► Extended the analytical investigation of the top three lunar oxygen production processes and defined thermodynamic processes and mass-energy balances with respect to the complex Fe-Ti oxide phases.

I was recruited to the $350M Plutonium Recovery Modification Plant (PRMP) project for the US Department of Energy (DOE). To work on this project, I earned a Q-level security clearance (DOE’s top-secret level equivalent) to support nuclear-related work and to clean up plutonium residue waste at the Rocky Flats Plant (RFP) in CO. DELIVERED RESULTS:► Oversaw Pyrochemical Residue Recovery (PRR) system for this complex operation. ► Led the Advanced Conceptual Design (ACD) for the Laboratory Facility System.► Served as a member of the technical evaluation team performing trade studies and reviewing equipment specifications and material requisitions.► Created training and users’ manual for the CADD program to bring new engineers onboard quickly. I also earned the Bechtel Performance Plus Award for this effort.
