Barbara is the former Executive Director at Seniors For Seniors, a nonmedical homecare organization employing Junior Seniors (50 years of age plus) to assist Senior Seniors (age 60 years plus). Established in Toronto in 1985, by her husband, Peter D. Cook, Seniors For Seniors has employed thousands of Junior Seniors and served thousands of Senior Seniors over the past 30 years. We sold our business in August, 2013 to Spectrum Healthcare. Seniors For Seniors continues to operate as a very successful separate division of Spectrum.Barbara is the co-founder of Seniors In Need, www.seniorsinneed.ca, a charitable endeavour and a new way of giving directly, by connecting impoverished seniors across Canada with concerned donors through an on-line web portal, sponsored by a not for profit organization.Prior to her work with Seniors For Seniors, Barbara had a very successful corporate career in the pharmaceutical and medical industry; including Director of Sales for Canada with Clintec Nutrition, a 50/50 worldwide joint venture between Baxter Healthcare and Nestle and senior Director of Business Development positions.Barbara is a high energy, creative, articulate negotiator and innovative strategic planner with a proven track record of initiating successful new businesses in the healthcare industry. She has extensive experience developing and managing customer/client relationships.She is the First VP on the Board of the Toronto Council on Aging. Associate Member of the Gerentological Nurses Association of Canada, Member of the Canadian Association of Gerontology and Member of the National Initiative for the Care of the Elderly (N.I.C.E.)Barbara is a respected and prolific Public Speaker across the Greater Toronto Area.
