Experience: University of San Diego, Publications and Marketing DepartmentSenior Creative Director7/02 - PresentOver the past fourteen years I have worked as Creative Director for the Publications Department where I provide creative direction, conceptual design, and production for all periodicals developed by the Office of Publications. My principle duties include creative & conceptual development; art direction; design; photographic art direction and coordination; mechanical production: video art direction and graphics: editorial illustration; photographer as well as print coordination for their quarterly USD Magazine. I am also responsible for establishing and coordinate production schedules for all publications. I work directly with printers on all phases from the bidding process through final printing; evaluating all color corrections and attending all press checks for each publication. Over the past 14 years, the USD Magazine has had the honor of winning over 135 national and peer design awards for our work on our magazine.

At Grossmont CollegeI I was fortunate enough to be a part of the adjunct staff in the Photo Department where I taught computer courses in PhotoShop, InDesign, Illustrator and Scanning processMy courses include "Computer and the artist" where students explored the melding of traditional art and drawing techniques and the contemporary platform of computer graphics. I also taught the fundamental skills of computer graphics in a course called "Fundamentals in computer graphics. In this course students were instructed in the basic skills of the Mac computer, inclusion of peripheral computer devices such as scanners, digital photography, and file management. These skills were learned through hands on design assignments that supported all fundamental principals of professional computer design.I was an instructor for several volley classes as well as served as an defensive coach for the Grossmont Women's volleyball team.

For thirteen years I worked as a graphic consultant/senior art director for the Zoological Society of San Diego coordinating all phases of design and fabrication of environmental way-finding graphics and donor identification panels for such exhibits as Ituri Forest, Gorilla Tropics, Wild Animal Park Entry Pavilion, Pygmy Chimps, Wings of Australasia, Hidden Jungle, and the Monorail Queue Display; design merchandise products for gift stores that included t-shirts, glassware, plush cuddly toys; shopping bags; gift tags, coffee mugs, beverage and drinking containers, glassware as well as the design of several major exhibits fundraising brochures. In addition, I worked as a design consultant for San Diego State University Foundation, co-designing the SDSU Foundation Annual Report for sixteen years, and as an Art Director/Illustrator, worked on many editorial illustration for GenQuest Medtech Corporation.

San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal ParkAssistant Art Director 1/87 - 10/89Responsibilities included the graphic supervision and art direction of all educational interpretative panels, major exhibit panel systems, and overseeing the restoration and continuity of the directional signage system, coordination and art direction of free-lance graphic designers, management of departmental budgets, establishing project budgetary needs, development and implementation of a graphic maintenance program, overseeing the continuity of the corporate identity system as well as tracking and coordinating all design production schedules. Responsibilities also included the knowledge of, and utilization of materials that best suited the overall project theme and environmental conditions. Materials such as bronze sculpture, copper, stainless steel, porcelain, sintra, plexiglass, wood, fabric, fiberglass, glass etching, silkscreen, film laminates, engraved plastics etc.
